Paul grew up amongst the oak forests of south-east England, he studied Forestry and Ecology at Edinburgh University. Since then he has been living in the International community of Auroville which is situated in Tamil Nadu, South India. For the past 30 years he has devoted his life to the conservation of the native ecosystem of this area – the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest, and has for the past 25 years been involved in developing the Auroville Botanical Gardens, as well as running eco-restoration programs to plant native forest. He is currently involved in the restoration of 800 acres of old limestone quarries.
